I live in Bay Shore and is looking to install an overflow, how far apart should the over flow be from the main cesspool.

I think mine is about 10 feet away, maybe a little less.

It's my understanding the lateral, min. distance from a Septic to Overflow is 10' in Nassau Co. and 8' in Suffolk Co. and the Septic must be 10' min. from both the foundation and incoming water supply line in both counties.

However, it's also my understanding that cesspools are supposed to be replaced, if they aren't precast, whenever bedrooms are added to the structure or overflows are added to the system.
