Is it okay for the purchaser of a home to attend the appraisal?

Have one coming up in the next couple of weeks, was not sure of what the proper protocol was in this situation...

Any help is much appreciated...

Thanks...

We asked our realtor whether we'd be present at the appraisal. But he told us the appraiser likes to do it alone since the appraiser works for the lender (if there is a mortgage associated with the transaction). You can ask your lender for a copy of the appraisal report once the appraisal is done. Just my two cents.

Every once in a while, one of my buyers wants to be there during the appraisal, but the appraiser won't tell them anything anyway, so it serves no real purpose; I will accommodate them however.
The appraiser just wants to get into the house and then do his/her own thing.

The listing agent and/or the selling agent should provide good comparables for the appraiser (although some refuse them!).

Do not attend. However, like others said, get a copy from the lender. The appraisal co. Will Not give it to you.
