Based on the current projection as of 8am Sandy will make landfall as a tropical storm near Ocean City, MD .... far, far away from Long Island.

The most we will get is some flooding, some rain, and some heavy wind. It's not the end of the world. I doubt the power outages will be anywhere near as bad as Irene muchless what I have heard about Gloria.

3) The local public servents will shift into high gear - because it allows them to pretend to be important
4) Hurricane Sandy Halloween costumes will start to pop up over the weekend
5) LIPA will start beating the PR drum about how much money the storm is costing them - do you smell a rate increase?
6) The price of gas will go UP UP UP becuase - well... just becuase
7) The major news outlets will all send crews to Freeport and Lindenhurst - because it just wouldn't be a storm without live shots from these places
8) It will rain
9) It will be windy
10) It will be over and forgotten about by the following weekend
Yep. That's about right. Unbelievable how they whip people into a frenzy. Sometimes I wonder if they do it on purpose just to spur supermarket and big box store sales. Which, don't even get me started on people making a mad rush to the supermarket! Puhleeze..we live in suburbia not the outback, you will not run out of food.

Wow, that may be so true. News12 is in a conspiracy with Costco, Waldbaums, BJs and Walmarts.

It makes sense now. I bet they get a kick back too.

Wonder if Duracell is in on this conspiracy too.

Meteorologists sometimes don't get the weather right for the very next day between simple rain vs. sun. And they have 1 job to do. I will just wait and see.

LED lights are certainly much better. I was about to buy more batteries for like $10 for my old flashlights then compared a new LED flashlight side by side. There was no competition. LEDs only from now on. Better money spent.

LEDs need to be adopted on a greater scale faster!

Fill up your bath tubs!!

Stop and Shop in Northport was a madhouse earlier today.. people buying up tons of bottled water, juice boxes. etc.. It's all so silly. If you were around in 85 when Gloria hit, these storms are all child's play in comparison.
