Have an old workhorse 5500 Watt Generator (220/110 volt), brought in 1998 - used less than 10 hours, sitting till last year. Then used for one week, due to last years hurricane. Last week changed oil and starts at first pull.

I heard someone in Nassau County worked out a deal with a gas station - power for gas....

Any one know in Suffolk county, if any gas stations closed for no power?

Trying to be creative -

I'd heard that gas stations need a specific type of generator, and not any one will work to get the pumps running.

If you could show ANY statistic, ANY article published in a major periodical, or ANY major news story about how the problem with fuel shortages post-Sandy were due to ELECTRIC being out at the station-level and NOT supply related - that will go along way to getting people to sign your petition.
I think you are misinformed regarding the issue.

Whether the media went with it or not, not having power to gas stations did contribute to the brief gas "crisis".

Stations having power would have ONLY helped them pump what little was left in their tanks prior to the storm hitting the area.
