I can't tell you the amount of pleasure I derive from obeying the traffic laws (including driving close to the speed limit) AND watching the near road rage that develops in people as a result of my behavior. It's VERY gratifying.
Everyone seems to be in their own world. I think people are caught up in the rat race. From the daredevils, to the old ladies who have the rest of their lives to get somewhere, and sit in the left lane going 50, it's almost daunting to drive anywhere. The most iconic places are the shopping mall parking lots this time of year, topped by the Plainview Fairway Market parking lot ANY time of year. And I don't forget the 5 towns area. It's every man for himself, and I don't know the answer. Even truck drivers are getting crazier. Soon we will all need armored HumVees.

You find it gratifying to cause a traffic accident? Just because you are following the law doesn't mean you are a safe driver. Going 55 MPH in the left lane on the LIE/SSP/NSP is not the smart thing to do. It is well established that the left lane if basically 65+ MPH. Those that go 55 MPH are a much bigger hazard than the ones going 65 MPH.

Judging by your response - I can't wait until my driving starts pressing your buttons on the road!

Let me know when that is so I can join in :-)
Sorry, following traffic laws is safe. Don't know how you can say otherwise.
