Wife works in Woodside and we are close to closing on a house in Syosset. I have convinced her that the LIRR will be quicker and probably more reliable than driving daily. She needs to be in Woodside by 7:45 am, and she gets off of work at 3:00 pm.

My two questions are:

1. Am I correct that the LIRR will be quicker than driving?
2. What station is better to depart/arrive into Syosset or Hicksville?

Any suggestions welcome.

Try mta.info/lirr You're better off there than on this board for schedules.

Hicksville has more trains, but nothing everything stops at Jamaica where in the AM, 9 times out of 10 you'll need to change for Woodside.

6:26 out of Syosset is a direct to Woodside.
