Southside hospital haha what a joke of the place . Anyone from that area knows Southside has always been a dump. It has had a very bad rep from day one and never improved. Definetly on list of worst hospitals.

Mercy with Sloan Kettering would be the best local place for cancer care. Or go to Sloan in Manhattan.

I would avoid South Nassau and Mercy. In fact, if I had a serious illness I would not use any Long Island hospital when some of the best hospitals in the world are right in NYC.

sorry to say but it has improved, in fact it was ranked better than good Sam in West Islip. Husband has been there several times and we were very pleased with the care. When was the last time you were there?

Anyone who gets admitted ends up dying. Terrible place.

I heard that NMC has actually improved since they reorganized.

It's part of the Northwell group now. One of the few cases where the customer wins when a large fish eats a little fish. Bye the way. I was born there(1954). Now it is returning to it's former glory!

I used to be an EMT an when we had to take a patient to Franklin General they begged to go somewhere else like mercy or South Nassau.

Medicare.gov rates hospitals. Here's the list for those within the Long Island and NYC area. LIJ scores low and St. Francis scores much higher.
