To build credit when having none it was. I had a piece of cheap car from the mid 90s. Unreliable car. Also currently got my first credit card. Building credit.

Unfortunately, leasing is the biggest throw away of money there is (and you talk about renting being throwing away money). You are now trapped in a perpetual cycle of auto payments that will last you the remainder of your life (unless you have a large windfall and are able to buy out a lease).

That recurring debt will also count against your debt to income ratio when you are ready to purchase a house.

Since you seem so keen on sharing all of your personal details...what other debts to do have? What's your date of birth? SSN? Come on, we're all buds here

LIQUEST, I congratulate you on your new start and your hopes for the future. It is difficult to get on the right path again and you seem to be headed in a good direction. That said, please do your financial homework before you get yourself in over your head and defeat the purpose of your hard work now. Put the house on hold until either of you are making a better salary and can more easily manage an unexpected problem or consider a cheaper location. All but a few of the LI school districts budgets passed yesterday. That is, at the very least an additional $100 in school taxes on the starter home you are considering. Homeownership is not for those living paycheck to paycheck. I suggest both of you watch the movie The Moneypit for a few laughs.

He's not borrowing. They are giving him the money! I say more power to him. It's better than having wealthy parents who are cheap and just say, "Work, work, work for all you have! Wait until we die until you get any money!"

I have always felt that in order to get answers and to have true conversations people have to be open. Make fun all you wish. Communication and all aspects are important to me.

In 36 months if I'd like to purchase my lease I can do so. That has been talked about by where I leased the car from

Save your money.

If you want Massapequa, look for Massapequa School District, or further north into Plainedge School District. I doubt you're going to find anything in your price range in these districts, unless it is a very distressed property.

We have spoken about the "ugliest house on the safest street" as a possibility. As long as the inspector says its good foundation.
