Lets say from your basic 2 bedroom house, to your basic one bedroom, or whatever it is, but this question is for OWNING ONLY.... NOT RENTING.... My guess is $5000 a month on average for just 1. Mortgage, 2. Taxes, 3. Gas to get to work and home, 4. Food and other necessities to live a normal life (WITHOUT ANY EXTRA"S), no wants just needs.

sitting right around there I would guess. I have a 2br 1 bath, mortgage and taxes put me around 2700, you figure utilities, food, car, insurance, gas etc, yeah, about 5K does it.

could you make it work on 4-4.5k... yes. if you were frugal, didn't have a car note, etc. but the first things breaks........

My wife and I own a condo, and out monthly overhead including food is around $5,000..that's with cars paid off and no CC debt. The average person On LI probably has closer to $7,000 a month in total overhead.

ITs all relative...most make over 100k a year and have good health coverage with sick days, if you compare what you make to the cost of living in your area you will see we both struggle just with different numbers...also a non right to work state helps...but I wont get into that!!
