For five years I have lived in that little sliver of Bethpage that is actually considered Hempstead. Despite this, I have been issued a Town of Oyster Bay parking permit several times without issue. I went in person to renew this week and now they said I can no longer get a permit... that I was getting them in error. I find this odd because I always go in person to get my sticker and they have issued it several times like I said. They even mailed me the renewal form a couple weeks ago.
This means that even though I live in Bethpage, I cannot park at the Bethpage train station. Or Hicksville for that matter. Plus, the N80 bus line has been discontinued so I can no longer even take the bus to Hicksville station. I went to both Town hall's and they said I can't have the permit. My question is: is the Town Clerk a reasonable man where if I wrote him or visited him personally he may make an exception? Like I said, I'm in Bethpage, where a lot of it is Oyster Bay anyway, and have gotten a permit for years. It's not like I'm coming from a totally different town and looking for a permit for the first time...thanks for the advice..
Because TOB has issued me the sticker for years knowing full well where I live. I even brought this up in person when I renewed in the past and they said no don't worry about it you're fine. It's not like they rezoned the towns or anything. I just thought since Bethpage is the only town split into two districts (TOB & Hempstead).. that they would continue making the exception for this relatively small area that's considered Hempstead. Again, I am a 3 minute drive to Bethpage station yet cannot park there now. Must be the only town where a resident cannot park at the same train station in that same town.
TOBAY is not reasonable, good luck. In all seriousness if your house in Bethpage is part of the town of Hempstead you are not eligible for a TOB sticker. You have to be a resident of the town of Oyster Bay to receive a sticker.
It's all in the computer. Won't let them issue the renewal. So no matter which staffer looks it up it would be the same result. That's why I'm thinking of going directly to the Town Clerk himself, who I'm sure could manually get me one if he wanted.

Your sense of entitlement to receive a resident permit in a town where you are not a resident astounds. Better start checking the Seaford schedule.
Did they scan the barcode of your registration? I think its new technology against you. Go buy a $10 TOH permit, you can park in Baldwin, Merrick, Bellmore, Seaford or Wantagh
You can't park in Bethpage for the same reason I can't park in the resident section of Seaford. So you really think you should be entitled to get a parking sticker on both TOH and TOBAY? Seriously?
It doesn't matter how close you are to the train nor if they gave it to you in the past. I'm glad TOBAY is cracking down on this. The Bethpage lot is crowded enough, don't need any additional non residents parking there.
The problem is with the zoning of the town. How do you expect someone to park 20 minutes away rather than in a station just 3-4 mins. Town clerk should use common sense and put this small area of Bethpage into Town of Oyester Bay, where it belongs.
