I’m just saying, why would you pat yourself on the back for wanting Martins? Jury is still out on Curran. I don’t think 3 months is enough, IMO.
Nassau politics is embarrassing.
It's not going to be any different with Curran.
Normally yeah 3 months isn't enough.
But in Nassau, it's like a crystal ball.
You just know how it's gonna play out.
Blame-scandal-blame-taxpayer suffers.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
I met Martins. Definitely a politician, but I didn't get the vibe he would be quite as bad as Mangano. It would of been the lesser of two evils at that point.

Not being as bad as Mangano is a very low bar to set....
At the end of the day whoever won was going to step into an absolute mess and faced with making unpopular choices. Curran's ethics and county contracts reform went further and had at least some way of dealing with the assessment boondoggle. No way were the towns going to take over that mess.

Unpopular choices or not her attempt to sneak grievance restrictions into the state budget was classic Nassau politics and complete BS. She drew plenty of flack from her own party because of it. Not surprised at all it ended up blowing up in her face and she had to back off.

The policy itself I do not think is a bad one. However, the last minute and rushed nature of it into the budget, no question about that, it was a mistake, more time was needed.
However, the whole system which has turned into, grieve just to grieve and not because the property is actually assessed too high (and the politically connected companies that come along with it) is a big reason why the assessment system in Nassau County is a total disaster.

All true, but look how powerful these companies have become. They got her to back down in 48 hours. The whole system has become a monster that seems impossible to put down.

That lesser of 2 evils schtick is played out and downright funny by now.
