If there any beaches on Long Island that are free to park and/or free to get on to the beach? I would like to go for a short period of time but do not want to pay 10 bucks for an hour at a beach.
No we are not socialists when it comes to beaches... Long Beach is free before 9 am and after 5pm I think... If you live in SW Nassau you can go to Rockaway Beach, it is not that far... I believe that beach is free but that 100% positive...
WTF does that mean? We pay more than enough in taxes to justify free beaches.
They are either State Parks (Jones), town beaches (TOBAY, etc) or City Beaches (Long Beach). The state wants their money, not for the beach, but for parking and each individual town wants to keep their beach for their residents. Are you going alone? If not, the $10 at Jones covers a carload of people. If you are only going for an hour, go to LB and walk on the boardwalk for free or get there before or after hours.
Isn't Robert Moses and Jones Beach free after 4:00pm?
