We are considering buying a house in the East Hills area of Roslyn. The real estate agent seems to be very confused about whether the house uses a cesspool or is connected to the sewer. Is there a way of finding out for sure? Can I look it up on a government website somewhere? If it is a cesspool, is there an easy way to find out where it is located? Are they usually located in the front yard or the back yard?
Get a copy of the tax bill.......should show a tax for the sewer district.
Cesspools can be in the front back or both. Look in the basement to see where the main waste pipe exits the foundation. There is alsoa round vent on the outside of the house. The cesspool is about 15 out from the vent
