There are Christmas tree farms just like any other farm. Tons of them here in NC in the mountains.

That said my last real tree was the year it toppled over shortly after being decorated. I also like to put mine up right after thanksgiving and we sometimes travel over Christmas break and it’s not something I want to worry about.

When we got older my mom bought a fake tree. Right after the holiday she would throw a sheet over it still decorated, and stick it in the basement.

I'm with you, last year was our first time trying an artificial tree. But Amazon sells pine sticks that you hang inside the artificial tree, and it actually gave it that fresh tree feel! And no pine needles to clean up.

If I had a place to store my tree I would totally do that.

It's farmed anyway, so no loss to the environment. It will be replaced once cut. I got a superb tree from this farm in Warwick last year and it was already pre-cut:

Anyone got stats on real tree fires?
Watching the news you'd think every other house be burning down nightly.
