Looks like the checks and balances between the three branches of government specifically designated by the United States Constitution; do you have a problem with that? Perhaps you should broaden your research sources.

Although this new law is patently clown world ridiculous, I doubt it will have much of an effect. The problem won’t be resolved until the demand for cheap labor is quelled, which means massive government action, and neither the Democrats nor the GOP have any desire to work with Trump on this issue. He’s doing what he can within the confines of a hostile Congress and judiciary. Thankfully they’re making great strides in addressing the judiciary - they’re about one or two judges away from flipping the 9th Circuit, have a weak majority in SCOTUS (RBG kicking the bucket will help solidify this).

Meanwhile, refugee admittance are way down, the wall is being slowly built with redirected funds, ICE has been unshackled, states like Florida are banning sanctuary cities, DHS policies on admitting people are being rewritten, etc. I’m frustrated by the slow pace but the executive can only do so much, this is not a dictatorship.

"Because reasons?"

You mean because it makes no difference whether a person has a driver's license or not? You can show a driver's license number, the last four digits of your Social Security number, a utility bill, a paycheck, a bank account statement, a valid photo ID, a government check, another government document showing your name and address to register to vote. Not a particularly strenuous test.

In fact you don't need to include any of these when sending an application to register to the Board of Elections. If they can verify who you are, you can vote. If they can't verify before the election you just bring the document with you.

The first question on the form asks if you are a US Citizen but the line before that states. "It is a crime to procure a false registration or to furnish false information to the Board of Elections." Being charged with such a crime could only accelerate one's departure from the country if they were here illegally.

So what difference does it make if somebody has a license? Do you really see that as raising or lowering the bar?

Free healthcare, free college, why wouldn't you want to come here illegally? Doesn't NY also allow illegals to teach and practice medicine. Came across and article a few years back that explained that NY claims a shortage of teachers and doc so they grant them licenses.

We all pay taxes. No escaping paying taxes here. There is NO escape from NY taxes. Period. For anyone.

More licenses. More cars sold. More insurance. A boom to the local economy. Win win for us. This is about money for the state pure and simple. More tickets written . And last but not least ICE now knows where to find you quickly and efficiently if they want to deport you. I feel safer with licensed insured drivers.

It is illegal to come here illegally, or not? I get mixed messages on what is legal vs illegal in NYS. Seems pretty black and white, but apparently not.

The whole thing is plain stupid. Rewarding people for breaking the law.
It's no wonder why everyone wants to come here.
Free everything, rights, the whole 9.
But yeah, screw the law abiding tax paying citizens. The money we **** away every year on illegal aliens would cover health care for every legal citizen. It's pathetic how much money and services are wasted on this nonsense.

Illegal immigrants are supposed to come here, lay low, work hard, learn English, acclimate culturally, attain high level education for their children, and then die here naturally. Potentially recieving citizenship along the way. If they receive any type of state funds aside from evading taxes, then the system is flawed. I am offspring of illegal immigration. Most illegal immigrants follow these rules. Liberals want to protect the illegal immigrants that do not follow these rules.

Nope, not true.

Some people work off the books, under the radar screen. They pay no income taxes. It was one of the reasons Greece was going under 10-20 years ago. The higher the Greek government kept raising taxes on working people, the more people were going to the underground economy.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_market

Also, another reason why some businesses want illegal labor is not just because they can pay them less but also they do not have to pay them any benefits.

Illegal aliens are exactly the wrong kind of people we want to encourage to come to the United States. If you are willing to break a law entering and staying in another country illegally, then it does not take much to decide you are going to break other laws as well.
