There's nothing "un" about Westhampton Beach.

What stores are you walking to from Great River?

I ride my bicycle everywhere - Southampton, East Hampton, Bridgehampton, Westhampton, through all the residential areas. Westhampton Beach has a no attitude, friendly downtown without the snotty high end stores . Cannot say that for the other Hamptons (except Hampton Bays) . JMO

Pat's Marketplace on Main St. in East Islip would be about it, and a healthy walk at that.

LOL....

Note to point out to the OP that folks are likely referring to SOUTH Great River here. It's a different neighborhood than North Great River.

P.S. You can hike from Bayard up into Connetquot with your quarter and feed the trout by taking the trail that winds up around the Westbrook Sports Complex then under (duck low and keep your head down) the Sunrise Highway by tunnel.

On top of the mosquitoes, don't forget to mind the ticks.

Passing through the occasional morning or afternoon may not be giving you a complete picture.

OK thanks, all. I'll check these out. Never thought of Setauket but I'll investigate. Am visiting Port Jeff this week to get a feel for the place..I know they have the waterfront there with homes.
