Just curious if those with jobs on LI have gone back into the office (assuming it's an option) or if you're still working remote. I know most of my NYC office friends are still remote, but I work on LI and I've been back in the office for 3 months now.

I never left. My office has 3 people.my boss and co-worker worked from home and I stayed in the office. My boss left on the 12th of march and came back 2nd week of may. My co-worker ended up retiring last month. She is 72 and had been with the co 25 years.

Remote until Jan. 1 at least. Work for a large company. Good chance (~60%) we will remain remote. Company is coming to the realization they don't need the real estate.

I wonder how many companies are coming to the conclusion that remote works for the employees and employers. And I wonder how this will affect real estate and other businesses.

Why people would want to go to some office park in Melville or Hauppauge is beyond me.

For people that have kids at home during the day their work efficiency is down compared to being in the office. Period.

With that being said some owners won’t mind that if they can save some $ on office space.

That’s a valid reason. Especially in a small house with younger kids. Luckily I have a bigger house as well as a tween and teen who are comfortable doing remote learning right now.

Remote is better for quality of life. Happy people make for better employees.
And screw the commute to city.

My wife works for a small company, ~100 employees, they want all workers back by Oct. 1.

I’m not on LI but my company has made it crystal clear we will go back at some point. But my guess not till there’s a vaccine.
