Does anyone know what's the average cost of new planting?
Your best bet is Green Giant Arborvitae, you can buy small ones as they are cheaper and do grow fast. I would space them 5' apart stem to stem for a full hedge.

I would avoid Leylands, they get too big and hard to manage. I have 32 of them in my yard and they're over 25' tall. Can no longer trim them like I used to, and now they are overbearing.

Thanks Tom, I'll keep this in mind. I have a small pine on my front yard by entrance where I live, that thing barely grew 2 more feet since I planted it ages ago. Some of these grow extremely slow, so knowing the types that grow and the ones that don't is good to know.
