The immune system can actually damage/destroy healthy cells because its so overactive. The COVID damage is all immune related inflammation. This is why COVID can effect mutiple organs besides just the lungs, because its the immune system doing the actual damage.

This also explains why some people feel nothing, some have a minor cold, and some die on a ventilator. It all depends on your immune response to the virus. Children have an immature immune system which is why we theorize they are at the lowest risk.

Great stuff Dumbo. You wont ever hear these type of details from any of the “experts”.

So if you start immune modulating therapies (and there a a whole host of them) early, you can avoid prolonged hospitalization, icu, ventilator etc. My hospital system even can administer IV immunomodulator therapy (Bamlanivimab) as an outpatient, so you don't even need to be admitted to the hospital.

In my system, the COVID census remains low, nowhere near last spring.

True. This is what is being studied at Mount Sinai, by Dr. McCarthy. She is studying what is called "long haulers," people who have all kinds of symptoms after testing negative.

Some researchers theorize that certain autoimmune diseases were originally triggered by a virus.

The immune system is triggered to fight "invaders" but it doesn't stop even after the virus leaves the body.

Dexamethasone, a steroid, is one of the therapeutics used for the treatment of Covid 19. It is also used for various types of autoimmune conditions to "calm" the hyperimmunity.

Actually this is what all of the experts say every day. Maybe you're following the wrong "experts." I posted on hyper-immunity response on here months ago. Steroids and anti-virals also mentioned here. Anyone with a lick of common sense understands we know how to treat the virus a bit better now than before. Conversely, the "experts" on here (quack imbeciles) muddy the truth every post and 14 ding dongs jump on board to sign off on it. Classic.

If you are younger the flu is actually more deadly than Covid. So the mommy keeping Johnny home from3rd grade so he doesn’t die of covid is simply lost on a number of levels. And Johnny is missing learning, thus ensuring he’ll remain denser than mommy.

Speaking of lacking knowledge, the dingbats who closed outdoor playgrounds in California due to Covid were finally forced to reverse that harebrained decision.

When cells are attacked by an invader (ie virus), the body releases histamines which activate healthy cells to attack the invader. A healthy immune response is actually mild "inflammation." The cells are causing some inflammation while fighting the invader. That is why these things pass in a few days or a week with chicken soup and tylenol. However, if this response is too strong, it overwhelms not just the invader but starts attacking healthy cells. It doesn't know better, it is reacting to the histamine response. When we have an allergy and sneeze or itch, that is histamine release. That is why we take ANTI-histamines against allergic response. Benadryl doesn't fix what you're allergic to, it lowers the histamine response, which provides relief. Recent studies have proven steroids are a stronger histamine and inflammation suppressor (with higher risk and side effects). Steroid treatment can lower the reaction. This alone can be the difference between being hospitalized or not. And I'm not a scientist. I just know how to read.

Ask a question. Just because I know more than you doesn't mean I know it all. In fact, apparently you couldn't fill a thimble with what most LICD'ers know about anything. And understanding how sickness works in the body isn't exactly secret info I had to google. I learned it from The Cosby show years ago, bless that poor pervert. Have you ever used a steroid? Never got the 'Prednisone' pack they give for most bad coughs? Pretty common knowledge and meds we've been using for years. It's fun watching the LICD hack brigade get it wrong daily. What's sad is otherwise intelligent folks buy it and act smug about being ignorant.
