well ghost town or not indoor dining is now BANNED in NYC, its just a matter of time before its banned on long island, but this time around there are no PPP loans and everyone is not getting an extra $600 a week in unemployment. all because 87 people died? or to many sick people in the hospital during flu season?

i dont get it 5000 sick people in the hospitals in the entire state of ny and only 87 deaths, I dont see the reason to shut down in door dining, shutting down indoor dining in NYC but leaving it on long island seems like its targeted. if the virus spreads in one restaurant its not going to not spread in another one.

this who thing lacks and science and substance to back it up

  • Indoor dining will be suspended indefinitely in New York City as of Monday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Friday; it came the same day the city topped thresholds on the mayor's three indicators for 1st time
  • In New York, state hospitalizations have topped 5,000 for the first time in nearly nine months; Gov. Cuomo debuted new rules for red, orange and yellow cluster zone areas tied to those rates

Today's update on the numbers: Total COVID hospitalizations are at 5,321. Of the 212,672 tests reported yesterday, 10,595 were positive (4.98% of total). Sadly, there were 87 fatalities.

Too bad DeSantis isn't the governor of NY. We'd be so much better off.

ALL NYC indoor dining is suspended starting Monday due to a rise in new and confirmed cases. Interestingly:

"Cuomo defended his decision, even though statistics he displayed Friday showed that the biggest source of spread of the virus is small gatherings in private homes.

Those account for nearly 74% of new confirmed cases, compared to 1.4% coming from restaurants and bars. Other categories with higher rates of transmission than bars and restaurants included health care delivery, higher education students, and education employees.

No evidence on how many (if any) NYC Covid deaths are linked to indoor dining.

Will LI restaurants be next (cases are rising)?

He's (Lord Andy) an idiot on this one and the numbers don't support it. It's like 1-2% restaurants vs 70+% private moron gatherings. The eateries are doing things right for the most part, and at least surviving. I think it's unfair to force them into expenses to accommodate the guidelines, the numbers stay low, then get the plug pulled anyway. That's straight BS. On the other hand, so many bars and restaurants are ignoring the guidelines and super spreading covid so some yahoos can do belly shots. If only our country had it's shizz even slightly together.

How dumb it is that spaced out indoor dining is banned but you can eat shoulder to shoulder inside a packed airplane.

Dumber: while indoor dining is banned or restricted, people are putting up these ridiculous outdoor structures. Some of them are basically just new buildings on the sidewalk or bike/parking lanes. Now that it's cold, we have fully enclosed structures with portable gas-fed heaters inside. And little to no ventilation or air circulation. Should be an interesting winter.

Assuming they don't all just get plowed under on Thursday.

In my system, the COVID census remains low, nowhere near last spring.
Does that prevent what I was told is a 'cytokine storm' autoimmune response?

10,027 was the number of new COVID cases in NYC on December 13. While 1.4% might sound puny for restaurants and bars, it represents 140 people. Those 140 people go home after a night out partying and potentially infect people at home who may then spread it during small gatherings in private homes.

Plenty of restaurants are trying to stay afloat by incorporating take out food and drinks in lieu of indoor dining. Indoor dining is a choice and not a necessity.

(Crap, I just defended boy King Kuomo.)

Take out by itself is hardly enough to keep most restaurants alive. Are you that dense?

Are employees wearing gloves and/or sanitizing every item they stock out on the shelves?
Same thing with factories. Is that flatscreen tv sanitized before it goes in the box? Is the box sanitized on the shelf? Is the Amazon or fedex driver wearing gloves?
Really. The logic is astounding as far as shutdowns and whatever.
It makes no sense. They do things, anything, to justify their positions.
That’s all. It’s pandering. “Oh look we care about you”. Yeah right. All nonsense.
