Was it mandated? And even if so, that doesn't make it right.

There is a long list of things that were done in this country years ago that we now know are wrong and that to which we would never do again. But nonetheless, as addresses over and over again, for kids, COVID-19 ain't no measles.

None of these vaccines address upper respiratory infections, to which vaccines have far less utility. There is a very good reason why the flu vaccine has never been mandated - for adults, kids or anyone.

Also, COVID-19 has not proven to be a problem for school children, absent extremely rare outlier cases. Measles, etc. presents a much bigger problem for children if they catch the disease.

When you look at how dangerous these other viruses are for kids, along with how ridiculously effective a single dose of that vaccine is, you have a much greater case for the shots being mandated. To the point where 99% of parents would freak out if their kid was NOT given the measles vaccine.

Again, COVID-19 is nearly harmless to kids, and the vaccine only moves the needle (no pun intended) - it doesn't eliminate infections. With this being the case, it is perfectly reasonable for people to say that it should not be mandated for kids.

It's simple, the greater the harm caused by the illness, the more risk one will take in getting the vaccine.
Also, the more effective the vaccine is, the more risk one will take in getting the vaccine.

This is also why there has never been a "common cold" vaccine. Clearly, one can be developed. Many common colds are caused by other coronaviruses, and we developed a vaccine for a coronavirus in months. The reason why one has not been developed is because there is no market for it. There is no market for it because no one is taking a "new and experimental" vaccine for something that has essentially no ability to be anything but an occasional nuisance. COVID-19 is more dangerous (for now) than the common cold. But it is not nearly dangerous enough for children to make many parents want them to take a new and experimental vaccine. Such is reasonable and it therefore should not be mandated. BTW, all my kids have gotten the vaccine - but they are teenagers.

Yes the vaccines were mandated for children as they rolled out. They even gave them in schools in many areas.
Covid can indeed harm children, with possible long term side effects. Additionally, they can become carriers if they are not vaccinated, harming those who truly cannot get the vaccine.
This past summer some pediatric wards filled up with children affected by COVID

/\ Sounds like an argument for a flu shot mandate for the little kiddies (since flu is more deadly than Covid for this group and they can spread that respiratory virus to all manner of folks).

Parents can now get their little ones vaxxed for either covid or flu or both. Mandating this sort of thing is a different matter here in the US. Although folks are certainly free to argue for it.

They can also become carriers if they are vaccinated. If parents want to vaccinate their kids to protect older adults in their families, then by all means they should.

Mandating it in schools where the adults are vaccinated and the vast majority of students do not have to worry have serious outcomes from Covid is policy I oppose, and no I'm not a Trump supporter, evangelical Christian, anti-vaxxer, conspiracy theorist etc. It's simply not necessary.

The article you post does not at all support your claim. Instead it links to another article, which links to another article, which links to another article ... If you have the patience to click all of the links and read all of the articles, you will see that no where is data presented that supports the position that some pediatric wards filled up with children affected by COVID. This is the game that the media plays. Write a headline claiming the fact that your politics wants to be true, while providing no evidence of the fact existing, except a link to another article which purports to be your "source", all the while the source article is doing the same thing, linking to yet another article which purports to being a "source".

In any event, "filling up a pediatric ward" is a poor standard to use to drive policy. A car accident can fill up a pediatric ward at a small town hospital. If this occurs would you propose we ban children from riding in automobiles.

You need to actually read what you are posting. "Covid can indeed harm children ..." No kidding. Who has ever argued other wise. But so can cars - do we ban children from riding in them? So can skiing. Do we ban kids from skiing? So can the flu. Do we mandate kids get the flu vaccine.?

You want to force kids to be vaccinated so that they don't get COVID and pass it to someone who cant get the vaccine? What percentage of the public can't get the vaccine? It's miniscule. Your arguments seem to support the conclusion that children should be locked in a closet 24 hours a day. If you do that, they will absolutely never get COVID and absolutely never infect anyone else. This accomplishes your goal much better than COVID vaccine mandates. Why are you not proposing this? What is, in fact, your goal? The complete eradication of COVID?

Again, for seemingly the 1000th time. The risk presented by COVID to children is no where severe enough to mandate a vaccine which itself does not eliminate the possibility of infection and is new and experimental.

The measles vaccine, by contrast, has been proven safe for nearly a century, renders it almost impossible for infection to occur, need only be given once, and prevents a disease that is very harmful for children.

Entire house down the block from me just got through covid quarantine. 2 adults were vaccinated, none of the kids, worst symptom the kids had was a headache for 2 days. They most likely now have better immunity than if they had been vaccinated, and the parents were fine probably because they were vaccinated. Dozens and dozens of kids I know have had covid, no long haul symptoms and no hospitalizations. That doesn't sound like an infection that requires a vaccine mandate.

As much as a few libs scream ‘it’s not the flu’ in response to anyone who reasonably points to some obvious similarities between the two respiratory viruses, it is obvious Covid will be dealt with the same way: Voluntary vaccines/boosters and meds. Once the prez no longer sees a political advantage in his current strategy he’ll declare victory and go over to a flu posture. And those who want to vax, mask, and glove will be free to do so.

No, that’s not true.

The polio vaccine was first introduced in 1955. In 1965, the New York State Legislature passed a bill which required any child to receive a polio vaccination before attending public school. 10 years and during that time the vaccine was reformulated to make it safer.
