Hi all....

Like the rest of Long Island, my family is thinking it's time to pack up and move out. Can't afford to keep up with the Long Island prices. To work just to pay for you house is insane. What about to enjoying life?

Anyway, looking to relocate to Mebane or Hillsborough area in NC. Anyone from Long Island that moved to that area?

I would LOVE to know what you think. I have two small children that I will be uprooting so I need to know I am making the right decision. Good schools are critical to me and a definate deciding factor in where to go.

Thanks so much. I appreciate any info. you can give!

I live in NC, but I am not very familiar with those areas. I think they may be pretty rural. I would post on the NC board and see what others have to say. Plenty of NY people that moved to NC are on that board so you may get a better response.

I agree with slynn, you should post on the NC boards.

I would add that both Mebane and Hillsborough are a bit more rural than the Triangle proper and are likely to require adjustments on several additional points that exceed the typical Raleigh-Durham, Charlotte experience.
