Does anyone with asthma like having a chest infection?! Does that give them a warm fuzzy?! Does ANYONE like having an avoidable upper respiratory infection with potential long term consequences AND the capability to make your family acutely sick? DOES ANYONE like to make their family sick?! Does anyone like standing in a cold line to get tested when it is AVOIDABLE? Who DOESN'T enjoy a nice mild flu in self imposed quarantine!? See, you ass hats who poo poo every part of the discussion to make it your science coffee klatch have no concern with the human element. That makes you a-holes, not scientists. I implore the good people to ignore these jerks. They've made their point(s). They keep making them because repetition is how you make BS stick.
I love when Mr. Above It All drops his mask (pun intended) and reveals himself to be just another American-style liberal, which is to say a pure authoritarian. Just keep your arm out and don’t ask questions, the Democrats are in power, and they’re the party of SCIENCE.

The Left has a long-imbedded authoritarian and big-government streak. It goes a long way to explaining their intolerance of alternative viewpoints. I would differentiate that from the (now extinct) classical liberals who were champions of free expression, personal freedom, etc.

There’s no party for those of us who want policies like universal health care but also want the government out of our personal lives (which includes classical liberal issues like equal rights, reproductive choice, etc.). Populism is the best we can do, and there aren’t too many leaders like that around anymore. I’ve grown increasingly skeptical that humans are capable of actually pulling that off, long term. On a long enough timeline every system, every empire, fails, because we are extremely fallible creatures.

I concur 100%. Sadly, republics have proven to fail right about...now (+/- 25 years). That would be us. There is no common sense party and never will be. Not enough constituents!
I am a little surprised to hear you are FOR universal health care, though.

Well, it is the opposite of our Governor, but finally a Democrat Governor is stating the obvious:

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis, a Democrat, declared in a new interview that the COVID-19 emergency is "over" and that he won’t be implementing another statewide mask mandate in response to the spread of the omicron variant, explaining that if people aren’t vaccinated at this point it’s their "own darn fault" if they get sick.

The emergency is over," he said. "You know, public health [officials] don’t get to tell people what to wear; that's just not their job. Public health [officials] would say to always wear a mask because it decreases flu and decreases [other airborne illnesses]. But that's not something that you require; you don't tell people what to wear. You don't tell people to wear a jacket when they go out in winter and force them to [wear it]. If they get frostbite, it's their own darn fault.

To be fair, this fella’s not a lefty so he doesn’t have that authoritarian/big government streak. Most Dem pols are a bit different from this guy so it’ll be quite a while before the last Democratic Governor gives up the ghost on Covid restrictions/mandates/masks. (Expect NY, CA, and MA to be bitter enders.)

National Review’s got a good article contrasting Colorado’s Dem Gov and our Dem Gov regarding Covid response .

The fact that our Gov flaunts a gold necklace with the word ‘vaxed’ tells you all you need to know about bubble-headed virtue signaling:
