Would love to hear thoughts on what you like/don't like about it? Seems like a very busy area with some leafy streets and nice homes. I've heard some pro/cons about certain parts of GC?

Are the schools good? Is it pressure cooker like North Shore? We looked North but GC has nicer homes, better bang for our buck.

I like the commute to the city.

Any tips, advice or feedback would be appreciated!

Where did you end up moving?

For the record as a GC resident: I feel the town is very welcoming to all everyone regardless of skin color. You will always have a few bad apples around, but they're everywhere.

As far as certain parts: just don't live within 2 blocks of Hempstead and you'll be fine.

That’s the typical garden city response from a resident. We welcome everyone but don’t live near Hempstead. I never understood that. 3 blocks ok but 2 your to close to the lower income area?

There are plenty of Asians in GC, OP. No worries.
They certainly don't compare to beautiful Mastic Road.

There's a lot of crime spilling North from Hempstead. You can call it lower income area, I call it reality.

What’s not to like? 20 min from the beach 35-40 min from NYC . Every store and restaurant you could ever want within 5 min . Top Schools , lots of parks , tons of Sports leagues for kids , top notch fields . Amazing town pool. 3 Country clubs in the town . Low crime. Nice downtown area.
