The lots are empty because nobody is commuting into NYC anymore. The LIRR is terminating direct service to Brooklyn in December so that eliminates commuters going to Brooklyn or downtown Manhattan - unless you want to jump a train to Jamaica and stand there for 12 minutes waiting for the Atlantic Terminal shuttle - overcrowded like the subway because all the people from Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan found their $5 flat rate tickets are cheaper then the subway and they get free rolling bathrooms to use. Also, thanks to the new Grand Central stop - trains coming and going from Penn Station are running only every hour - yes - during rush hour so if you miss a train - you stand there for an hour waiting for the next one OR you can take your chances at Atlantic Terminal trying for an unscheduled shuttle train that may or may not lead you to a connection in Jamaica heading to your station. Homeless are also panhandling on the trains cos they get their cheap tickets and can just ride around - and all the school kids now take the LIRR instead of the subways or buses so they are all over the seats with their feet and their backpacks and using phones without headphones so you get to listen to their foul music and TV shows in surround sound. So no, the lots are not filling up anymore and I anticipate in December - people who couldn't negotiate to work from home anymore will have quit, retired or relocated to jobs outside the City or formed carpools. The LIRR has killed itself and should just change its name to the Brooklyn-Queens express run. People will now be spending at least 5 hours a day to commute 11 miles away because their schedules are so unaccommodating and people are spending at least 2 hours just waiting around for trains to come or go. Nobody working 8 - 10 hours a day needs to add another 5 hours of commuting time onto their workday. The LIRR is forcing people to make career decisions they wouldn't have made because the commute has become untenable. $300 a month -

updated LIRR schedule for GT.

LIRR schedule updates is catering too much to NYC. As it stands, I will continue to WFH or drive in to be fully reimbursed. They don't want to cater to me, they don't get my money.
