I’m puzzled can someone help. Which trains will go directly to grand central station once east side access is up And running? I assume oyster bay will require transfer at Jamaica. But what lines will go directly to GC? I am guessing ronkonkoma, port wash, Babylon? Anything else?!

Thank you but that thread is not clear either. I’m understanding that not all train lines will go to grand central is that correct? Will oyster bay and Babylon go to grand central? Will passenger on oyster bay from Roslyn need to change at Jamaica still?

You can see the draft schedules for each line here. From Roslyn you would still likely need to transfer. From the Babylon Branch some trains will go directly Penn while others go directly to Grand Central (with some going to Atlantic Ave as well). Whether you would be able to go directly to Grand Central, transfer at Jamaica or still go to Penn and take a subway, would really be determined by when you are going in.

All of the electric branches will have some amount of trains per day running to Grand Central. By electric branches, that means the following:

Port Washington
Babylon
Ronkonkoma
Long Beach
Far Rockaway
Hempstead
West Hempstead
Huntington (Really the Port Jefferson Branch, but only the area west of Huntington is electrified. East of there is diesel service).

The diesel branches will have no trains to Grand Central, and minimal trains to Penn Station, as is the case today:
Oyster Bay (one single morning electric train from East Williston will go to Grand Central, but that is one stop away from Mineola anyway).
Port Jefferson (eastern portion)
Montauk

The Greenport Branch will continue to see just a few shuttles to Ronkonkoma as it does today.

Service on the diesel branches is often minimal to begin with. The branches with a lot of service (and also a lot of riders) are the Ronkonkoma, Huntington, Port Washington, and Babylon branches.
