Hi,

I had my taxes grieved and the tax assessed value decreased by 9.25%. I received a bill for this where they show the old and new assessed value confirming a decrease of 9.25% but the dollar value associated with the old value compared to the dollar value associated with the new value shows that they saved me 13.5%. I don't see how this is possible given that the dollar value is equal to assed value x tax rate.

Can anyone who has done this before enlighten me? I am going to call them but in the past even simple questions took a week to call back. I can't imagine how long it would take when trying to figure out where that extra 4.25% in their calculation came from - especially since it is conveniently in their favor and they get 50% of the reduction.

Thanks

They are calculating what the taxes would of been if not grieved vs what they are after grieved, It’s common. The company I used was 40% flat. My reduction was (rounding up) 2k, the fee is $830 as I have to pay the $30 scar fee.
