Wouldn't be 7 year olds crossing the street at midnite.
You're arguing with the wrong person, and missing the point I was making to boot. But continue with your outrage and good luck on your losing crusade.

As far as I know, there is a 10 MPH leeway, so you can technically go 35 MPH (or maybe it's 34 MPH).
you might as well move backwards..

The speed limit signs say “photo enforced” but do not say anything about hours or even that it is a school zone. Technically they are in school zones but most of the cameras are far enough away from schools that the signs don’t even say you are entering a school zone and many times you don’t even see a school. Just assume any NYC street could have a speed camera especially if you don’t know the area or whether there is a school somewhere in the vicinity that may be out of sight.

Completely understandable but I am confused why this was issued at 11:14 pm on a Friday night in the summer when there is no school in session. I thought school zone speed limits were only effective during school hours. This is a typical speed trap that you would find down south. No one has a chance. There were at least 4 other cars along side of me in the 3 second video. The ticket even says "School speed zone cameras are in effect year round on weekdays between the hours of 6am to 10pm. As I said, this was nearly 11:30 pm at night in the summer so I am not even within the school zone time frame. The speed limit signs say 40 so I did nothing wrong. I never would dispute a red light camera ticket but I am going to dispute this one.
No they don't.

I just paid it. I don’t care. It’s only $50. It was the principle. No biggie. Not worth it.

I got the same ticket. I think it’s right before the 200s streets.

I don’t live in queens anymore, drive northern most of my life and never knew that was a school zone.

NYC is generous compared to so much of the country where, anytime you enter a semi-rural village, there is serious speed zone enforcement (even ticketing within being 5 miles over the limit), because it's one of the chief ways to raise local revenue. Tons of places like that all over the USA.
