Yup, the city folks who voted for DeBlasio (twice!) and then Eric Adams (!) provided the (relatively thin) margin for Hochul. LOL

Imo if you take away the unions who push and push for any Dems that run then Hochul loses easily. But this in NY and they control it all.

Why is it always the unions fault? WTF. Zeldin won in Nassau, and Suffolk. I guess there are no unions out here?

New Yorkers who would have voted for Zeldin moved to Florida.

Agreed, the NYC Dems (not all, of course) who have also voted in inept folks like DeBlasio (Twice!) are simply looking for a Dem. And Horchul fit the bill.

I'm just amazed at the stupidity in the world. Why do people NEED to vote strictly party line? How could anyone be so narrow minded?

The republicans would have won easily if they ran a better candidate, a Trump supported election denier was a poor choice. Inflation rate at 8% this should have been easy.

It wasn’t easy, really, anywhere except Florida. In PA, Oz wasn’t a great candidate but he lost to a vegetable. Arizona isn’t finalized but it looks like the gubernatorial candidate Lake will lose to someone who, like Biden, didn’t even campaign or debate. The Dems picked up a few other seats nationwide that they were expected to lose, or were at least tight races. The GOP just underperformed.

- The GOP itself is still run by the establishment cucks like McConnell who hate populist Republicans and did not support these candidates at all. Conversely, the Democrats threw full support behind their candidates, blowing hundreds of millions on proven losers like Beto and Abrams.

- Likewise, said GOP is schilling for DeSantis to run in 2024, so they can get back to business as usual (IE screwing over their voters in favor of big business that no longer votes Republican anyway). The narrative all over is that DeSantis is the future.

- NY has a majority Democratic voter base, and they’re loyal to party. That’s nearly impossible to overcome, no matter how annoyed people are at inflation. California and other blue strongholds continue to vote blue no matter how bad things are getting there. Cities in far worse shape than NYC (Detroit, Baltimore, DC, etc.) have never stopped voting for democrats.

- Red states are getting redder, blue states are getting bluer. People who see the writing on the wall are moving. This will lead to a national divorce eventually.
