The Nikon mirrorless cameras called the Z series are much wider in diameter then Dslr lenses used to be .

So in order to fit the smaller older lenses on the camera you need an adapter called an ftz adapter to put on the old lenses .

As far as colors go .

Here is my secrets ..SSSsssshhhhh

In camera I shoot very flat and boring …the reason is a dslr camera can’t see like our eyes .

The dynamic range the camera sees is way smaller then what our eyes see as our eyes see everything from light to dark.

The camera sees much narrower so it cuts off anything out of range giving us white sky’s or ugly turquoise skies , or reds will look featureless like tomato skins .

So by shooting very boring in camera with little saturation ,sharpness and contrast I get a wider range captured .

Kind of like in audio what is called signal to noise .

Now when I get home I can add back my colors , sharpness and contrast and season to taste …

If there is one thing I rarely like it is photos that are only done in camera that really are only half baked , regardless of the fact they are left unedited ….

As a photographer I don’t want my photos to look like everyone else’s as mine all look the way I want them to look….it is a blend of photography and a bit of artistry.

I don’t like all the time it takes to edit each picture so I tend to use a lot of preset filters in my workflow so I can get certain looks with a few clicks …

Every photo gets a bit of

LUCIS ART ,WHICH IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE..this software sold for 600 dollars at one time .

the company went out of business and now the software was sold to a medical imaging company where it is used to enhance X-ray image details

After Lucas it goes through Topaz labs adjust AI

Then topaz sharpen AI .

IF NOISY FROM LOW LIGHT OR HIGH ISO it goes through TOPAZ DENOISE .

many times , especially my flowers and insects have to be cropped so much to get them big enough that there is way to many pixels cut away .

So those get run through TOPAZ LABS GIGAPIXEL where missing pixels are magically recreated .

So software and editing play a big role today and it isn’t just the camera doing it

Here are some examples where after cropping the files were to small to be used for much so gigapixel magically restored the missing pixels .

These were shot with the Nikon z6 and the Nikon 105mm macro lens except for the last which was shot with the Nikon 200-500mm birding lens .

The first photo is of poisonous milkweed bugs .

I think except for the last these were taken at the manorhaven community garden

It’s amazing I haven’t been bitten or stung yet

Don't worry mathjak. Milkweed bugs are only poisonous to its predators. They don't bite or sting. Stay far away from wheelhouse bugs, though.
