I go mountain biking in there frequently.
A few weeks ago another biker told me there have been some car break ins at the parking lot.
I think you'll be okay if you stay on the paved path.
I saw a shelter made of tarp in one of the loops off the main path which was kind of creepy. Wouldn't be surprised if people are living there but don't know for sure.
Def stay out at night. It's big and easy to get lost in there if you venture off the paved road.
