I wouldn’t poke the bear. The inspector is possibly doing his job and probably getting called from the neighbors every day. If he goes through the motions but nothing comes of it big deal. If your rude to him who’s to say he won’t find easy visible things to get you on?

I might follow that up by forwarding that neighbor's mail to India. Had a friend who did that to an A-hole neighbor. I thought it was hilarious. Three weeks of his mail ended up in some village in Punjab.
Another option is to send "discrete" mail to the neighbor hubby pretending to be his mistress. Love notes. Chocolates. Panties. IOU's for a romantic fling at the Commack Motor Inn. LMAO. Get creative. Then as soon as the wife naturally explodes at him, call the cops.
