If you live in Suffolk county, Cupsogue or even Smiths Point are just as scenic and beautiful as Coopers Beach , Flying Point or whatever beach is rated the most beautiful in the country. Just be willing to walk a few minutes on the beach away from the crowds.
Even Robert Moses. Park at field two and walk west past the golf course. Five minutes later you're in heaven.

The beach might be nice, but the ocean at Jones Beach? Not so much.

yes agreed. water always looks cleaner to me further east

Jones Neach water looks nothing short of a huge cesspool. Brown water filled with seaweed and Irvine from all the filthy people swimming in the ocean. I wouldn’t be caught dead in that water. Actually, I would be if I actually went in.
