I keep reading that Grand Central Madison is a tough station to navigate and one needs to walk around 10-11 minutes to get to the street level on Lexington Avenue.
I am planning to move to Great Neck and I am trying to figure while looking at the Google Maps transit directions via LIRR, how much does it actually take to get to the street level (my work is right near Grand Central Terminal on Lexington and 44th)?
I also read somewhere that they plan to open some additional escalators. Is this true?
About 5 minutes or less to get from LIRR station level to street level. There's an exit to Lex and 47th, so you will be in the office in 10 minutes.
I take the 48th and Park Ave exit.
I've yet to do it myself but my co-workers say the talk of it taking forever to get above ground is exaggerated. Try to do it yourself a couple of times to get the feel of it.
maybe 5 min longer to get our of GC compared to Penn.
Port Wash from GN sucks now compared to pre-GCT. More local stops, more transferring or less service. The winner of this stop is Bayside. Even bigger winner is the City ticket price for those off peak riders
Heck with MTA and their money stealing ways. I usually WFH now.

I will do it one of these days. Actually, curious to see the station anyway. Will do and report back.

Just to give some more color to this - I am looking to move to either Westchester or Great Neck Long Island. Both my wife and I work right near Grand Central and we want to have the shortest commute possible. That's why I am trying to figure out how accurate the Google Maps travelling time estimates via LIRR really are.

Metro North > LIRR
