Yes that’s correct that can make very small modifications 2% like you said. If they rejected it has to be a supermajority (so all dems need to be lock step) and it goes back to the IRC a second time first. It’s going to be a very tough sell to the courts if they reject an overwhelmingly approved map from the IRC (which this was) and try anything like they pulled last time and I think they know it. Last time they “tried to get away with it” it blew up in their face
It's hard to say the approach. Ordinarily, I would think they would accept the maps or close, but when seeing what other states have gotten away with they may go for it.
Agree with the 8% being on par with a +8 Biden district but disagree it was a good turnout, for an election with that much scrutiny it was pretty dismal special or not
A Special is never going to have the same turnout. I do think it needs to be looked at in the context of it being a Special and not a midterm or Presidential race at the top of the ticket. Of course, I will give you not all Specials are created equal as many aren't in competitive districts. With that said, my main point was I don't really see the race being much different in a higher turnout election
The only different between R’s and D’s in NY are that R’s are hypocrites. Same big government liberals but cosplay as conservatives. Staten Island is a perfect example. Largest percentage of government workers in NYC and highest percentage of R vote.

Dead on couldn’t have said it better. It’s also very old school corrupt political machine here
Kings Point as well as parts of Great Neck have a very large Iranian Jewish population, with a growing Orthodox Jewish population as well. Lawrence is heavily Orthodox. Both areas have trended heavily Republican over the past 10 years or so (they tended to be Trump's strongest areas on LI as well).
Kings Point and with northern sections of Great Neck along with the Lawrence area have generally become the most Republican parts of Long Island
Lol I figured it would be Massapequa with all those meatball morons with bro-dozer pickups & Jeeps with the Trump flags flapping in the breeze.
