We have heard that a termite is required at some point in the house buying process.

We have just reached verbal agreement on the price of a home and were planning to have an inspection done. We don't have a signed contract. Can we get the termite inspection overwith now or is that something that has to wait until we have a signed contract and a mortgage committment.

TIA

You can do the termite inspection now. Many home inspectors, including myself, have the DEC permit to conduct termite inspection. Its included in our home inspection fee. Some companies do add an extra fee. Good luck!
