Just wondering what temperature you guys leave your homes at in the winter. Currently, I set mine to 66-68 during the day and about 64 at night, keep in mind I am home all day with a 2 year old, so I don't want to freeze him out during the day, and we use a portable space heater in his room at night since he doesnt really sleep with blankets yet like us.
My wife thinks it's too cold, but we really can't afford to set it any higher, if it wasn't for my son, my house would be at 62 to 64 daily. I could suck it up, my son can't, lol.

Wow that's cold. When I'm out, the thermostat is around 68, When I'm home, it's between 71-73.
I have electric heat. I keep the house at 60 when I'm not home with one room heated to 67, since I have a parrot in there. Once I get home, I kick on the pellet stove, which usually warms my livingroom up to the lower 70's and my bedroom to the upper 60's. Before I got the stove, I'd turn the heat up to 65 in the room I was in when I got home. It was cold, but I couldn't afford more than that. LIPA is insane!
now here is a question. you set your temp to 60 at night and when you're away so you don't heat an empty house, now you come home and turn it up to 68, do you think you are saving energy by doing this, or is the energy required to heat the house from 60 (in the dead of winter I assume you could get an actual 60 degree or less house) back to 68 negate the savings or even cause you to use more energy??

something I've always wondered.
You are saving money for sure........you have great settings. Keep it up!
Well there is a project for you this weekend....you really have to switch them as soon as possible.
Absolutely. I also have a pellet stove going in...which I also plan to have a programmable thermostat hooked up to. It will be nice to be automated.
