Plane Sense 4 LI just announced they have been working with a developer to use the amazon dash button to submit complaints automatically for you. Will recognize LGA, JFK, and Newark.
If it doesn't bother you guys that's great. We find the noise intrusive and a huge change from last year when they first began the rollout. Perhaps you don't live under the new low flight paths though. We also don't have anything against the higher altitude flights that only cause an almost pleasant rumble. Under 5000 feet, which we are experiencing now, the whine of the engines and the pollution are a different matter.
Planes need to takeoff, and land. You live in a very densely populated area, with a lot of air traffic due to JFK, LaGuardia, Newark, Teterboro, etc. These airports all existed when you moved there. Planes can't stay over 5,000 Ft when they have to takeoff, and land, and they have to maintain separation, so you are going to have air traffic sequenced over your head.
The airplanes weren't here when I bought the house and/or was looking to buy the house.
But the AIRPORTS were there, so you knew there would be air traffic, right?

They need to land, and can't stay at 5,000 ft. They also need to remain SEPERATED, and you can do that two ways, horizontally, or vertically.

No I didn't, and nobody buying near Roslyn (for example) would imagine there would be, unless they were told by someone or there are airplanes flying when visiting an open house. Nobody thinks this area is near an airport.
Lynbrook, Hewlet, rockville center, yes, but east hills and roslyn?? No. Impossible to know, unless...

I don't know what that has to do with anything. Actually we're all complaining how they don't keep them separate since NextGen came into place.

All NYC and Nassau county are "near" an airport according to you evidently. If I don't like having airplanes every 30 seconds flying 1700ft above, then what? I need to go upstate?

What you aren't understanding, just like so many on this thread before you, things all changed in 2012 in the NY metro area. They rolled out NextGen. Satellite base navigation rather than ground based radar. What this did was condense all dispersion routes for each airport, into super-highways in the sky. This achieved a few things. Less delays (which is highly debatable), more money for airlines because they are able to get more departures and landings, and more direct routes (which is odd if you have ever looked at a map of planes that land into JFK using the Arc of Doom).
What the FAA never cared about, and still don't care about, is the fact that by compressing all of these various flight paths into one, the people who live under this newly created path, are going to take close to 100% of the flights in and out of these airports. Great for people who now no longer hear planes once in a while on the old paths, but absolutely devastating for those under these new paths.
The downsides to living under a newly designed NextGen flight path are too many to mention here, but I can personally say that listening to planes, 1500 feet above your world every 30 seconds is truly torture.
So, as you stated before, people didn't knowingly purchase a home under an existing path. They didn't even purchase a home, and then had a flight path moved over their home. What actually happened was, people lived and bought homes in an area where the FCC built the busiest highway above their home. Not just one or two planes a day. We are talking 60 planes an hour for 24 hrs in a row with no rest.
That's a pretty big deal. The feds won't joke around with that and the normal consequence is several years in prison. It's fairly easy to find people. I've been hit before and it's extremely disorientating when low to the ground.

While life sucks for those people, they bought homes near one of the largest and busiest air travel designations in the WORLD, not even the US.

Nowhere was it written the FAA won't change arrivals/departures. NYC is a crazy location with JFK, LGA, EWR, HPN and TEB all close to each other. Those airports alone are busy (with JFK and EWR having a heavy international presence) and now combine them into the craziness that exists and you have what you have today.
It's been that way for decades, the airports haven't moved, they have always been and there and will always be there. It's a ridiculous thought to have but one I'm not surprised about in this "I will sue for anything" snowflake society.
