Woman, 74, victim of Port Washington home invasion -- Newsday.com (http://www.newsday.com/news/local/crime/ny-liwash1205,0,4256368.story - broken link)
I think the incident in question was in Manorhaven since the sixth precinct of the Nassau County Police is investigating. Manorhaven is the only section of the the Port Washington area that isn't patroled by the Port Washington Police.
I haven't encountered anything bad where I live (The Terrace neighborhood). I've been here nearly a decade.
As far as I know the crime stats don't back up the claim that the area is becoming less safe. An isolated incident should never be viewed as meaning an area is becoming less safe, and that is what this appears to be, an isolated incident.
