We live in Rockville Centre, but my other favorite Long Island towns would be:

Oceanside: grew up and went to school here. A great town with a good sense of community and my fave old haunts.

Montauk: love the peaceful quality of "The End" of the island.

The Springs (in East Hampton): wonderful feel to this area.

Blue Point--Because I can't afford Bayport or Sayville.
Rocky Point--It has some things to recommend--beaches, shopping, proximity to my workplace. I almost moved there, but I can't say I love all of it.
Some third place that I haven't found yet (that's why I read threads like this).

You know, it's depressing to think that the places I can afford are those I wouldn't necessarily want to live in.

How pricey is Sag Harbor? My doctor has an awesome house out there he built with the help of Stanford White's great grandson...which made me figure it was pretty damn expensive.

You posted your response while I was quickly editing my list to comply with the initial post (upon first glance, I had mentally inserted a "not" between "could" and "afford").

Sag Harbor would be on my dream list, affordable to me only if I win Lotto or if I get hit in the head with a giant jar of pickles at Costco and sue. Since I don't play Lotto and am not litigious, I think that Sag Harbor will be off my list for..um, ever.

I'm only 17 so I can't afford to live anywhere haha. But I would pick:

Rockville Centre- just seems nice and love the restaurant Simply Thai

erm, thats the only Long Island town that I know besides Garden City. Haha. But I'm most likely not going to live on L.I after this year, moms moving in a month. Losing my hometown whats the point of staying?

We love Rocky Point
Great North Shore buy.

My wife absolutely loves Blue Point.

Her 3 others would be Blue Point/Stony Brook/Shoreham
