One thing the county does not have too many of is traffic circles, but we do have our fair share of eternal-red-light intersection. Do you think we should get more traffic circles instead? Where?

Why one earth would you want traffic circles? The people of Long Island have enough trouble driving in straight lines. If we threw in traffic circles there would be mayhem.

Of course, I am the exception to Long Islands terrible drivers.

No freaking way. those circle jerks are the worst since less and less people understand what Yield signs are for and what "right of way" means.

Have you ever driven the Jones Beach traffic circle? The majority of the people don't know how to do so and it creates havoc. NJ has the dogleg turns too and NY don't handle them all that well either in my opinion.

We have tons of them here in the Boston area & I hate them. They are difficult to navigate with their five or six tentacles going all over the place and I am frightened that I might be trapped into driving on the freeway which I never do. I can't wait to move home to get away from them.

There's still a couple of traffic circles in Riverhead. Since the traffic there has increased by an order of magnitudes, you can now get the demolition-derby feeling from driving into one of these disasters.

Yield? Whats yielding? Traffic circles would be a nightmare in Nassau, where people can't even process a 4-way stop.

A well-marked rotary isn't difficult to navigate and in the right locations calms traffic while eliminating traffic lights. The only problem I've seen is some drivers being too timid to enter, causing a back-up.

They would be effective situated at smaller intersections in Nassau like 107 & Jerusalem.

They just put two traffic circles on Rt 110 north of downtown Huntington, in fact they aren't 100% done yet. I think they are great, rather than sitting at lights. The effectiveness depends on the scale of the circle , ones with multiple lanes can be tricky.
