I agree, diner food is universally inedible and overpriced. I've tried 3 diners (a couple of them mentioned in this thread) on LI and never again. Nasty.

Chili's bean burger wasn't to my liking, but maybe I'm spoiled because I make an awesome bean burger at home. I do however enjoy the veggie fajita's when I'm at Chili's. It's not on the menu, but every one has made it for me when I've asked for it. Besides, it's fun taking up the table with a ton of little plates!

If I go to chilis it's either the anch burger or chicken sandwich.They are HUGE!!!

Check out "CookRoom" formerly Middle Island Diner, formerly Daisy's Roadside Diner in the 70s. I am biased, it is my mom's place, but you will love the food. Not typical diner fare and only open for breakfast and lunch. Google CookRoom Restaurant for directions and info.

Ive actually heard the place is AWESOME.
Supposedly the best Oatmeal on the planet.

Rough location..its by the MI WalMart on 25 near the Wellington.

Rumor is that whoever opened it is from Maureens kitchen.
