Hello,
Is Bethpage state park a good place to take small children(4&2) to? I know it's a golf mecca but does it offer anything else? I would like to take the family to explore the park but not sure where to go inside the park. Thanks for any recommendations.

as far as I know, there's not much for kids that age...except for during the winter when you can go sledding down the hills.

There is very little for small children in the park. There are trails that wander way up North but are not suggested for a young family.

There is a playground/jungle gym. They have bike path, basket balls courts, horse shoe, and softball fields.

Isn't there an entire historical village there to go through that a little one may enjoy? Or am I thinking of a different park?

JudiPatooti, you're thinking of a different park. The Old Bethpage Village Restoration is close to Bethpage State Park but is a county facility and is not connected to Bethpage State Park.

There is a very nice paved walking trail that goes from Bethpage State Park down to Massapequa Preserve. I have seen parents walking with strollers and biking with their kids on this trail.

I know they don't allow tubes (which sucks). The sled needs to have a steering device.
