There is a nice place in the town of Wantagh, just east of you. It is called the Wantagh Inn, across from the Wantagh train station. It is not rare to run into a real Irish man/woman in that place. Same with Jackey O'Rieleys on Hempstead turnpike in Bethpage, almost always a few Irish lads there.
A familt friend of ours lives in Queens, but goes to the Irish club in Mineola every week. He mentioned there are a number of Irish in Mineola and Garden City, among other areas. Neither of these places are too far, I guess.
I'm afraid the Irish aren't coming in numbers like they used to. Why would they? Their own economy is booming beyond anyone's wildest dreams, and it's pretty easy to find a good job.
The U.S. once held an allure for other reasons, but now that's been replaced by more exotic locales like South America (Brazil and Chile being very popular) Australia, and other Pacific Rim nations. The U.S. is kind of a yawn, isn't it? It's like "been there, done that".
Are there any other Irish born people in Bellmore, lived in Bellmore three years.
Try Woodside Queens.
Many Irish around during summer in Montauk, they usually work the restaurants live 20 per house, sew some wild oats then flee home.
The young ones are real pain in the rear, they party all night long EVERY NIGHT then fight or girls throwing up outside cabs all over streets 4AM when the bar's close.
Who needs this after spending 1/2 million $$ plus taxes on a summer home ?
What lovley sights to see in the morning
Yes, I haven’t seen high numbers of them anymore since the cops (***deputized as immigration officers***) started cracking down in mattress houses, illegal housing and daycare.
No not even nannies in Manhasset good riddance!
