To all asking about Long Island neighborhoods

We were moving to LI from Utah...and literally had 4 days to find a house. We were initially interested in Shirley/Mastic because of the lower costs. It was really this forum that led us toward investigating Ridge/Rocky Point/Sound Beach...where we found the same or better house for about the same money.

we drove around the area for 2 days and were hooked. Had we not had the advice from you guys it might not had been as simple. Bottom line...we did do the research ourselves (using the local knowledge found here). What it did for us was to narrow down the options.

I think the number of rep points are a decent gauge of what you are being fed also.
