Port Washington, Plainview-Old Bethpage, Merrick, Long Beach, and Roslyn. Manhasset also has a nice library, it used to be very crappy but they built a nice new one.
Most Nassau libraries are pretty good actually, even here in Westbury. Only really crummy ones I've been to is Wantagh, Glen Cove, and Sea Cliff.
Smithtown libraries in Suffolk though are the worst. Small, poor selection, and closed several days a week and never open on Sundays. Despite having some wealthy zip codes, Smithtown's residents dont believe in having good public libraries.

You should see Elmont's - brand spanking new, has a huge theater, it's unbelievable - in ELMONT. Also, Lakeville is pretty nice (that's in New Hyde Park).

I think Garden City's is kinda small but I'm used to it now and like it.

lol, well...gotta get those Elmont kids some darn edumacations (::said with southern twang:: )

East Meadow's is pretty nifty too. They have a carousel you can sit in and read. It doesn't spin around but it's pretty cool to chill out in.

Jericho library is open till 9pm weekdays, till 5pm on weekends and has tons of programs. Th kids programs fill up quick and usually has a long wait-list for some, even though they have lots of kids programs. Another negative is the parking.. since the library is heavily used, parking spaces are limited and you have to park on the street sometimes. But they were recent awarded a star status by the library journal. http://www.jericholibrary.org/Specia...tar_status.pdf

Elmont is holding it's own contrary to all the hate on this forum. I was very impressed with the HS graduation rate and the various accomplishments of the senior class this year....It may be a minority neighbourhood, but thank God that their are still those who takes a serious interest in their community and want's to see it strive for the better...."maybe that's why Kate is now on the band wagon to revitalize that entire argo theater area"
