My husband and I are trying to choose between two homes, one in Roslyn Heights, the other in Lynbrook. They are fairly comparable in price but, because we are unfamiliar with both areas, I am finding it difficult to decide.

What are the pros and cons of both neighborhoods? Does anyone know much about the Roslyn Union Free School district and the Lynbrook Union Free School District? Which neighborhood is safer? Which home is more likely to retain its value?

Thanks guys!

Roslyn without doubt, but parts of Roslyn Heights goes to the Henricks schools, not that Henricks is not on par with Roslyn

There are parts of the Hamlet of Albertson that have a "Roslyn Heights, NY 11577" mailing address that are in the Herricks Union Free School District; but, as far as I can tell, no part of the Hamlet of Roslyn Heights is in the Herricks Union Free School District.

Bear in mind that Roslyn Heights is one of those villages and hamlets on Long Island where many of the places -- about 1 out of every 2 places -- with the community name in their mailing address (1,744 acres) are not in the hamlet (944 acres).

I grew up in Lynbrook - If the school is zoned for District 20, then I would consider Lynbrook. It is a great school. The cons of Lynbrook are that it is a village and there are a lot of rules that you need to live by. Also the taxes are usually pretty high.
