My deck was ruined when the tree it was planted around, blew down in the recent storm. Where can I get a copy of the Town of Oyster Bay building code, for rebuilding it to meet current codes?
The town web site has info on getting a permit, but nothing on the actual code requirements.

What happened is probably deemed an 'act of God' by your homeowner's insurance company but remember to check anyway. You never know. Maybe insurance will kick in towards the repairs. It's worth a phone call to find out.
I'm going through the process of legalizing my deck right now. If you want to DM me, I'll give you the name and phone number of my architect. He's in Wantagh and is familiar with all the coding regulations on Long Island. He could tell you right away what you have to do.
Thanks, I will go to the building Dept.
I want the info for the insurance company, so they know why it is so expensive to replace it.
Thanks to you both!

Good for you! Make your insurance company pay. I've never made a claim like this but I'd think no matter how much insurance companies dislike paying out, if you shove work deemed necessary by your town in front of them, then they really can't argue with you.
Actually, the insurance company people have been very polite & helpful. The first inspector was not thorough, so they are sending another one - their idea, not mine. It seems they are going out of their way to be fair.
