I just want to say thank you to Stephen Flanagan who organized the Tea Parties across Long Island Yesterday and everyone who showed up to support the movement in Massapequa Hauppauge, Riverhead, and Hicksville .
Long Island has been traditionally blue but I have seen more and more protesters lately throughout the Island. Looks like it's gaining traction.
lets keep it up.
We can hope, but first take back the Island and the state. A woman we know just resigned from her job to work for the Tea Party movement in our area. Pretty gutsy move and shows her commitment.
FWIW, As a right wing, Conservative, gun carrying, voter, I'm tired of Sarah Palin. Tea Party Movement good, celebrity politicians not so good.

If you want a true conservative local candidate you may want to check out Chris Cox who is running for Congress in the 1st Congressional District.

.
That was gutsy and it is a nice example of what modern day Long Islanders are doing to rebuke the high taxes that the state and country are demanding from its people.
It was a great demonstration from patriots all over the Island.
Thanks for the link Tom, I will definitely keep my eye on him. We need someone in congress to represent us.
Actually both Nassau and Suffolk were solid Republican until the late 1980s/early 1990s and even today the Democrat lean is only by a handful of points. It is very likely that we will see Long Island go back to a Republican majority over the next few elections.
Ahh yes more tea bagger craziness. From the same group of people who cheered on Venditto last year after a double digit increase in Oyster Bay Taxes...

I doubt its changing anytime soon. Without getting too much off into the national aspect, the southern religious tinge of the current GOP is what played a big role in the GOP losing ground on LI. Unless that changes they aren't going to win much back.
I respectfully ask this question: Where were the Tea Partiers prior to the 2008 election? Are we saying that taxes were not outrageously high before then? Was the Government not spending too much back then? Did this all-of-a-sudden change? I'm trying to understand where all this anger has come from, and why it didn't exist (at least not in such a public way) before the election of our current President. Thanks.
