Breaking News:

Public employees who are already highly compensated beyond the equilibrium of any market forces want to hit the taxpayers for another raise in the face of recession and sky high unemployment.

Isn't there a song called Dreamweaver or Dream On by Aerosmith? We need to play that at the next BOE meeting in Bellmore.

Default Gotta hand it to Arnold Goldstein, Superintendent

At least he's fighting on the side of the taxpayers and USING THE COMMON SENSE GOD GAVE HIM, which appears to be lacking in those demanding a more than 5% raise:

Quote:
The administration and the teachers' association have met 14 times since May 2009, during which they seemed to make progress, but then encountered deadlock, Goldstein said. During negotiations this April, the teachers' association called for increases of more than 5 percent for tenured teachers; Goldstein said that is not economically feasible.

"We cannot afford the same generous increases we have given in the past," he said. "I wish we could because you deserve it," Goldstein said of awarding teachers raises comparable with previous years.

Goldstein also noted that teachers currently contribute 12 percent toward their health-insurance premiums and have not offered to increase that amount, while administrators contribute over 20 percent toward theirs.
So far they've met 14 times.

I wonder what the outlandish demands for raises were back in the beginning, as now it's "only" more than 5%!

I do like him better than the guy he replaced.

These teachers just don't get it, I will be voting No on Tuesday.
